A Mightier Pen
Posted on Mar 27, 2006

Gadget-heads will appreciate the $25 Inka pen's well-tooled carbon fiber and stainless steel construction (an aerospace-grade titanium model is $90). The four-piece, pressurized-cartridge ballpoint can be used in "quick-pen" mode, assembled into a full-size writing instrument or collapsed into a lightweight 2 3/4-inch keychain or zipper accessory.

Perhaps the pen's best feature, besides compact portability, is its ability to write at any angle in just about any condition, even 100 feet underwater, according to the manufacturer.

I tested the Inka pen in a wet notebook in 17-degree weather during a Tahoe snowstorm and was thrilled to find that the ink flowed freely when another pen would have clogged up and quit.

Look for the Inka pen at outdoor stores or online at www.writeanywhere.com.
